Mary Salter of Animals Ark has supported Red Lake Rosie through adoption and now the Neuter Commuter.
There was action all over in the woods that weekend. All the animals including Rosie, Thumper, Katrina, Snowball, Captain, Fluffy, Jake, Rusty and Mittens were all meeting new people- nice animal people, and they loved it! We all watched as Mrs. Olson did her dance. Well we all felt sad as these people left our woods! It was a good feeling to know that we have these friends to join with us to help more animals in the future.
Red Lake Rosie is happy to report that the Neuter Commuter visited the Red Lake Reservation March 18 - 21, 2006. The team sponsored by the Animal Ark of Hastings, Minnesota neutered and spayed 30 animals and gave immunizations, revolution, and other treatment as was needed. Twenty (20) animals were also rescued during their visit. They also provided help to other animals who needed emergency care and treatment. They held their clinic on the west boundary of the reservation at the Karen Good residence at Rosie's Rescue.
We wish to thank Joan Lawson, Peggy Augustine, Mary Salter, Dr. Charlie, Melvin, Jodi, Chris, and Dorothy who were volunteers from the Animal Ark.
Local volunteers included Kevin Wolden, Carol Priest, Bemidji; Nancy Hegland, Fosston; Chris Ostrum, Sanitarian of Indian Health Services; Sanoma and Aelena , Counselors at Red Lake Schools # 38, Nokomis Paiz, Red Lake; and students Alyssa Beaulieu and Mike Wilson of Red Lake High School and ALC.
It was a wonderful experience. We hope to do another in fall, 2006, when we plan to do a campout. Won't you join us?
Peggy Augustine coordinates the Neuter Commuter which provided services to Red Lake. Peggy also volunteered for the HSUS RAVS Clininc in Red Lake last summer.
Joan Lawson has supported Red Lake Rosie from the start providing funding for medical care, neuter/spay, and rescue activities.
